Craig Arnold

HV Electrical Advisor

Craig has over 30 years’ of experience, working in and around the mining industry. Craig has extensive knowledge with implementing projects in Australia, South Africa and United Kingdom.

He has technical qualifications and extensive experience in a range of engineering disciplines.  His focus has primarily been on electrical and mechanical project engineering specifically in the area of power generation and distribution for power systems and he has experience on both the supply and consulting sides of mining infrastructure projects.

Craig has a wealth of knowledge with multi-disciplinary engineering design responsibility for power supply projects from gas turbines installations to HV switchyards. Turnkey delivery of power plant and distribution systems on greenfield and brownfield projects. Craig has been responsible for coordinating the activities of internationally dispersed multi-disciplinary suppliers and sub-contractors on concurrent large projects

Graham Stead

Electrical Design Engineer

Graham has over 30 years’ of experience in various Electrical Consulting, Engineering and Business Management roles across Europe, Middle East and Africa.  He has held senior positions in multinational companies including Director for Rockwell Automation’s Global Solutions Group (EMEA), Lead Consulting Engineer for Hatch, Principal Engineer for Kentz (Saudi Arabia), Engineering Manager for Alstom Protection and Control and Protection Applications Engineer for Eskom (Power Supply Utility).

Graham has a strong and proven track record of engineering and delivering projects into all industries and in challenging geographical locations.  He has extensive experience in electrical power systems, automation and control as well as in delivering turnkey, EPC as well as EPCM type projects across a wide range of applications and plants.

Graham is a qualified Engineer (Electrical) with supporting qualifications in energy and business management.

30 years’ experience in the Power, Engineering, Construction and Management Consulting industries in UK and Africa. Previously CEO of several South African businesses in the Power, Engineering and Construction industries as well as General Manager of a subsidiary of the global Murray and Roberts construction business with projects throughout Africa (including Gautrain, Medupi, Jwaneng, Morapule, Tenke Fungarumi, Grootvlei for clients like Eskom, FQML, Arcelor Mittal, Debswana amongst many others). 

Other prior roles include Engineer to Eskom, Connections Manager for EDF Energy in the UK, and Principal Consultant and owner of a Management Consulting business providing technical leadership and support to distressed businesses.

With a career spanning over a decade, I am an accomplished engineer specializing in the testing, commissioning, and secondary design of Extra High Voltage (EHV) and High Voltage (HV) Substations. My journey has been marked by a profound understanding of protective relay principles, control and protection schemes, switchgear, and substation automation.

My expertise extends to executing comprehensive tests on substation equipment, undertaking maintenance activities, and adeptly resolving faults. I possess a high level of proficiency in utilizing software tools for protection relays and test kits, coupled with a deep-seated knowledge of test procedures.

Over the years, I have completed numerous new transmission substation projects, as well as expansion initiatives.

With over 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, I specialize in power protection relays and possess extensive expertise in testing and commissioning of high voltage substation equipment’s.

Additionally, I have a proven track record in overseeing protection relay projects and conducting thorough testing of substation components. My leadership skills have been instrumental in streamlining processes and fostering team growth, ensuring the integrity and reliability of critical infrastructure. I also have experience within the field of infrastructure and oil and gas projects, contributing valuable insights to project planning and timely execution

Baddar Rafique

Senior Engineer

With over 10 years of expertise in the installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of substations up to extra high voltage levels. Currently serving as a Lead Engineer, I oversee and coordinate all aspects of substation projects, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and timeline objectives.

Previously, I successfully managed large-scale projects as a Project Manager, demonstrating strong leadership by directing multi-disciplinary teams and overseeing project lifecycles from initiation to completion. Additionally, my background includes experience as a Site Manager, where I effectively supervised and motivated teams of 100-150 personnel on various construction sites.

My comprehensive skill set encompasses technical proficiency, project management acumen, and a commitment to delivering excellence in electrical infrastructure development.

Chiranjeevi Ashwathappa

Lead Engineer

Experienced Electrical Engineer with over thirteen (13) years of diverse working experience in managing Projects in Transmission & Distribution Substations Scope includes Manage, Design, Testing and Commissioning of 132/11kV, 132/33kV & 400/132kV Substations Integration in all aspects of the project life cycle from the Initiation to the closing. Skilled in overseeing technical staff ensuring that projects are completed on schedule, within budget and according to specifications.

Experienced in HV/MV Substation periodic/routine maintenance works, Configuration, Testing and commissioning of numerical protection relays from different manufacture like ABB/Hitachi, Siemens, GE, Alstom and Coordinating SAS team for SCADA system implementation.
